This week I started working in clay. I made a knight, a pawn and a castle. I made them hollow so I could fire them. I managed to break a piece of each of them but I am still happy with how they turned out. I was told to go back to working with wire, that I should do more with it before moving on.

First weeks

I should have started this before now. 
The brief was on movement and motion and I chose to look at chess as a starting point. I like how each piece moves differently. I am also interested in the shape of the pieces and how the could be changed while still being recognisable.
So far I have mostly been looking at the chess board, and how it could be distorted, as well as making models of pieces from wire and tissue.
