Visual Communications: Week two

OK. It's not even a teaspoon.

Final piece
Week two the brief was about using only illustration, no type, to bring across the proverb. I don't think I did that well with that. To be honest I didn't see visual communications as a real option for me. I didn't think I am suited to it.
I decided to use photoshop again. I took photos of a broken plate and a table spoon. I then used photoshop on them. I found a photo of an earthquake on the Internet and combined it with the plate. I experimented with the spoon and images of tornadoes and whirlpools. For the final piece I add a teabag and spills of tea.

Visual Communications

First try
For the first week we had to try and get our points across using only typography. My proverb was 'storm in a teacup'. I did a mind map and tried to write down every thing I could think of in relation to those words. I then drew thumb nail sketches to illustrate those ideas.
Finish piece

There was a talk about creativity and an introduction to Photoshop. I drew thumb nails looking at the style and positioning of the letters.

Photo version
I decided to do the completed pieces in photoshop. These three pieces were done like that. The black and white looking one was made using photos I had taken. I had emptied a teabag on to a plate and wrote in the tea leaves with a toothpick. I also formed the letters by moving the tea leaves around, thats how I did the word 'storm'.
